Our Story

Village Lift began with a simple belief: opportunity has the power to transform lives, open doors, and inspire lasting change.

The journey begins with Rita’s father — whose path from a small village in India to the American dream was shaped by resilience, hard work, and determination. His experiences formed Rita’s understanding that access and possibility are among the greatest gifts we can share with others.

That conviction has guided Rita’s continued dedication to advancing education and livelihood initiatives with communities around the world, including India, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. Through these efforts, she has helped establish schools and sewing centers while investing in vocational training and agricultural programs that equip individuals with skills, independence, and the ability to create sustainable futures. This mission continues through Village Lift Impact, a 501(c)(3) non-profit focused on expanding access to education, skills development, and community-driven opportunities.

Village Lift, the retail company, was created to bring that same spirit into commerce — connecting customers with thoughtfully designed products, talented artisans, and the stories woven into every piece. Through intentional partnerships and responsible sourcing, Village Lift unites beautiful design with meaningful impact, creating a sustainable approach where commerce can contribute to the growth of people and communities.

Today, Village Lift brings together those who believe business can be a force for good. Through creativity, connection, and purpose, we honor the talent, resilience, and experiences of the people who inspire us while building pathways that carry forward the values that first sparked Village Lift.
